Paper and Print

The team at Golden Goose PR is extremely fond of interior design, so it is with delight that we are embarking on a PR drive to decorate the nation's walls with Bloompapers. A new online supplier of wall art, Bloompapers is all about colour, style and creativity and it works with contemporary European artists, whose designs are used as the basis for each print. There's an eclectic mix, ranging from playful cartoon robots and sketches of the female silhouette, to typography and striking photographs of the natural world. Some of our favourites are Billboard by Blue Perez, a British photographer and devoted traveler, who creates art, illustration and stock imagery from light, pixels, paint and imagination. We also love this tree silhouette by Oona Culley, whose shadow installations are displayed in Terminal Five. Bloompapers has something to fit any style and space, bringing walls to life with an original work of art.

On the Bloompapers site, you'll also see Bloom Images, including graphic design, photography and illustration from the iconic New York skyline and Union Jack to fresh bread and orchids. Bloom Wallpaper is an imaginative selection of patterns to bring a touch of inimitable cool.

With the nation in a seemingly permanent state of doom and gloom, wallpaper is back on the scene and Bloompapers has arrived to help us fall back in love with the walls around us.

Right! Enough gushing. We're off to commission some Golden Goose PR wallpaper of all our favourite coverage....it's just as well we're in a very tall building with a lot of blank wall space....

Caddy Shack PM Attack

Anyone visiting the World of Golf in New Malden, Croydon, Glasgow or Kent in April is going to be delighted or put out to find that Gordon Brown and Alistair Darling are targets at the driving range. Being the largest driving range in Europe, with nearly 14 million balls hit there each year, it won't be long til Brown and Darling lose their heads...as golfers line up to take a swing the UK, the coverage has started rolling in...

A Word To Wise Investors from Robinson Pelham

When Golden Goose PR advised jewellery client Robinson Pelham to issue a press release about what stones and metals to invest in in the wake of the recession, we had hoped for press interest but hadn't quite expected to trigger a whole page in the Financial Times. Jewellery editor Nicola Copping immediately picked up on the trends for subtle diamonds; asking our client, Zoe Benyon, to comment on this shift in style.

Scarlett & Crimson meet Ruby & Millie and Robert Cary-Williams

Scarlett & Crimson, Golden Goose PR's favourite cartoon rock chicks were out to play over London Fashion Week. To celebrate the new vest collection featured at Coco Ribbon, K J Laundry and The Laden Showrooms which are being sold for charity, the lovely Le Bisou and Raffles team invited all our fashion protagonists to play. Scarlett & Crimson were there in spirit and Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall came along to celebrate their soon-to-launch make-up collection for the brand. Robert Cary-Williams, who had designed the charity vests for Scarlett & Crimson, hosted. Guests included Bryan Ferry, Patrick Kielty and Sophie Anderton.

Meanwhile, in NYC, our Scarlett & Crimson associate Joey Jalleo has been reporting back with great success...last night he spotted Emily Holt, the EYE editor for Women's Wear Daily and W Magazine in a S&C Robert Cary-Williams vest (they call them 'tanks' over there) at SCUDERIA, the new New York eaterie owned by Leyla Marchetto.

Crediting Cavalli

Golden Goose PR sometimes spreads its wings a little further than the UK. We've launched BeautifulPeople.net in tandem with U.S agency BWR and rolled the service out in Spain...and now we've joined forces with TwoFish in the Netherlands and The Market Room in Spain to launch the new Cavalli Card: credit and luxury all at once. The launch of the card has already generated 100 online news hits globally with print coverage to come. The launch party in Milan was attended by the world's media. The Sunday Times in the UK was the first to spill the beans about the party, before the product focused release went national on Monday 2nd March.

We're Walking in the Air......

London might have come to a standstill with all of this snow, but the Snow Geese at Golden Goose PR have very much aclimatised to the arctic conditions. There is work to do after all. On our journeys to and from the office, we couldn't resist whipping out our Fujifilm digital cameras to snap away at the jolly snowmen. Naturally, a 50ft snow sculpture of Richard Branson on a treadmill shall be erected outside Virgin Active on High Street Kensington in the early hours of tomorrow morning....

Putting Away The Bling

It's all about inconspicuous consumption in the Goose Nest these days. We're all about freecycling, recycling and curbing gratuitous displays of bling. And it seems we're on the money as far as Celia Walden is concerned. In her fashion and jewellery feature in Saturday's Telegraph, it appears that modesty really is the new bling. This is exactly what our jewellery client, Robinson Pelham is all about: beautifully crafted heritage pieces that are designed for generations of wear.

Creative director and co-founder of Robinson Pelham, Zoe Benyon, is quoted in Celia's piece. Having just dressed Pearl and Daisy Lowe in antique Robinson Pelham jewellery for Pearl's recent wedding (congratulations Pearl and Danny!) and dressed Camilla Rutherford and Kelly Rowland for some rather special nights out, Robinson Pelham is fast becoming known as a brand synonimous with tasteful, elegant luxury. They even re-work antique stones and inherited jewels in to modern day pieces, from engagement rings to brooches...

Laura Wood returns from the jungle

This year instead of sending Christmas cards, Golden Goose PR decided to donate some of its time to a charitable cause and Laura was the lucky one to venture out into the jungle and more specifically a children’s home on the Thai Burmese border. A 12 hour flight and eight hour bus ride later Laura arrived in Sangklaburi and more importantly Baan Unrak Children’s Home. Baan Unrak provides food, housing, emotional support and education to over 140 children.

Sangklaburi as an area is home to many refugees fleeing war, forced labor and poverty in Myamar/Burma. Leaving family and community behind has destroyed the support network for families and exacerbated the immense challenges they face when relocating to a foreign country and culture. Upon arrival in Thailand, Burmese immigrants are restricted to living in a small region around the border where they encounter discrimination and lack of jobs. Access to medical treatment and public education is also limited. Most of the children at Baan Unrak have either come from Burma or were born in Thailand but lack legal papers claiming their national identity.

Laura spent a wonderful ten days in Sangklaburi running activities with the children including an art workshop and yoga rehearsals as well as supporting in the nursery, spending one-on-one time with new arrivals, assisting with medical care and accompanying the team on the outreach program where volunteers take much needed supplies out to the elderly and the young in Burma.

The experience is one Laura will never forget and we all take our hats off to the individuals who dedicate their lives to nurturing, loving and supporting all of Baan Unrak’s wonderful children. Without them, they would literally have nowhere to go.

GGPR is currently planning a number of fundraising initiatives to support the home and is looking for 5 volunteers to visit the home and build a much needed fence around the complex. If you are interested in assisting in this project or hearing more about how you can support the home, please email laura@goldengoosepr.com

Virgin Active Lights Up Westminster

And they're off! The 10 Virgin Active ad vans are doing the rounds at Westminster...and our favourite photography wizard Jim Marks was on the scene, brand new (two days old!) Canon 5D Mark II in hand with a 28-105 lense....the fog was as thick as Dickensian pea soup, yet ever the resourceful artist, Jim managed to capture the perfect shot. In fact, if you look at this picture closely, you'll see that the Houses of Parliament have been re-touched so that they are actually visible..they were completely whited out in the actual shot and the van has been super-imposed so that branding and wording can be seen. It was however, on the actual bridge - just not driving past at that precise moment. A true masterpiece of editing and post-production...

Financial and jet set social coverage for mdesign

It's rare to get coverage in the FT and Asian Tatler in the same week, but we did just that for our client mdesign. With the global jet set rushing to purchase mdesign's luxury London properties, this couldn't have come at a better time. Stephen Sellar, co-founder of mdesign, appears as a spokesperson in the FT and you may recognise Yusef from Quantum of Solace in the Tatler piece...!

Spinning up mischief with Gordon and Dave

We've had a lot of fun with Virgin Active, our health and fitness client, over the years. Being arrested on the concourse of Waterloo Station was quite a novel experience, further to the creation of our 'Jumping Jack Flash Mob' in 2007. In 2008, we stormed the streets of Manchester with anti-'moob' placards and a camera crew...our clan of bra-clad men made Jordan look flat chested. Knowing that the cheeky team at VA HQ are always up for a little controversy (and quite fond of putting us in the line of fire), it came as no surprise to learn that our first mission for the new year was to ask the nation, the PM and the leader of the opposition to 'Lighten Up'. As we type, ad vans are being created to drive around Westminster...complete with images of Gordon Brown and David Cameron grinning away at the gym. The Sunday Telegraph's Dashwood got wind of our story...will Cameron and Brown take this lightly? Will they be joining Amy Winehouse in the queue for the sunbed at their local Virgin Active? Or following in the footsteps of Guy Ritchie, who has also been seen working out at his local VA? Watch this space, reader...

'Get Your Kit On'

Ooooh we love it when we get two clients in one article. Especially when it's in Grazia. Today's issue has a fitness fashion special in it and not only do we (again!) have Pineapple all over it, but we've also got a quote in from our super fitness savvy Virgin Active trainer, Jane Chinery... it's all about the legwarmers, ladies.

A hat trick of fashion coverage for Pineapple

With fitness being the order of the day in these recession riddled times, our client Pineapple couldn't be having a better January. Spangly exercise bags, sexy little legwarmers and bendy, stretchy lycra are flying off the shelves - and it's no surprise, seeing as our PR efforts continue to reel in the coverage. This morning's 'This Morning' show featured Pineapple Dancewear's leggings and legwarmers, complete with on-screen credits. And just now, a very happy Remy Le Fevre has returned from Smith's clutching this week's Look and Woman magazines, complete with beautiful bountiful Pineapple products aplenty.

You can find Laura Lou and Felicity working both these looks at Virgin Active on High Street Kensington at least once a week...

2009 Trends

Happy New Year everyone! Our tree may be gone and our tins of Roses may be empty (we're now back on our good old daily Wispa run)...but our festive spirits are soaring high thanks to the wonderful Ruby Warrington, who was lovely enough to feature two of our clients in this year's first ever issue of Sunday Times Style.

Chinawhite gets the top spot in the 'Going Out' guide, so watch out for the new club which will re-open this Summer.

Our two cartoon rock goth chicks, Scarlett & Crimson, are listed next to Suri Cruise, Emily Blunt, Sally Hawkins and Georgia May Jagger as two girls to talk about this year - which is incredible, seeing as they're the only two non-humans to get a plug in this illustrious trend guide. As Ruby says, S& C are 'leading the anti-Bratz revolution'...and they don't look like they've had any surgery, which is quite an achievement for a 'toon in this day and age...think about it...!

Even more excitingly on the Scarlett & Crimson front, we've just taken delivery of the 300 x hand finished limited edition vests that have been created by iconic Brit rock fashion designer Robert Cary-Williams. Each vest (there are four designs in all) have been inspired by the original Scarlett & Crimson drawings by Ged Backland. Skulls and crossbones, ornate keys and butterflies with skull shaped bodies all feature in the artwork..and the vests truly do look amazing. They will be going on sale in Coco Ribbon, KJ Laundry and The Laden Showrooms from February 2009 to coincide with London Fashion Week and we're delighted to say that we are working with the wonderful Alice Wilson and the Le Bisou team to throw a roof raising Scarlett & Crimson party at Raffles on Wednesday 18th February. Guest list enquiries can be made to info@goldengoosepr.com. More to come later...Robert Cary-Williams is hosting, along with Scarlett & Crimson, who will be there in spirit.

Rock on!

P.S More to come on the glam rock make-up range that Millie Kendall and Ruby Hammer are creating for Scarlett & Crimson soon....

Bye bye, Cafe Royal

The Golden Geese shed tears on Sunday 21st December when we visited our members’ club client Chinawhite for the last time. We’ve not all been barred or anything – but we’ve had to bid our farewells because as we type, the site is being demolished to make room for a new six star hotel. So, no more Paper, no more Grill-Room and for the time being, Chinawhite will close until the new venue is ready in Summer 2009.

We’ve got so many happy memories of all the clubs inside the CafĂ© Royal building. The hedonistic halcyon day parties thrown by David Piper in the Grill Room, the spectacular launch of Paper, Helena Christiensen’s star studded birthday party, the macabre Chinawhite Magic shows, Keira Knightley’s 21st …all have been wondrous occasions that we’ll never forget. We’d write a book about our adventures at 68 Regent Street, but then we’d all have to leave the country and change our names. So, here are just a glimpse of our favourite moments over the past five years:

Laura: “Being in the thick of it when the crowd went mad at the Chinawhite MOJO party in 2006. The Alabama 3 played live and Larry Love was amazing. He sang Johnny Cash songs, I was dancing with Shane McGowan, MC QC Ian Glen, QC Mike Mansfield AKA ‘the Champagne Socialist’ and members of the Guildford 4 and the Birmingham 6. I’ve never known an atmosphere like it.”
Felicity: “Bumping in to Jude Law three times over the course of one evening at Chinawhite at the Peace One Day party in 2008. We were on proper ‘hello’ terms. It was almost as exciting as meeting Boris Johnson on High Street Kensington!”
Laura Lou: “Watching Bonnie Tyler sing ‘I need a hero’ live at Chinawhite at David Gest’s All Star Souls party in 2006, she’s a real hero of mine herself. Our Fujifilm Finepix launch at the Grill-Room in 2007 was a really special moment too. Seeing Patrick Wolf performing live with his Ukulele after months of to-ing and fro-ing with contract issues and small print was really amazing, as everything just came together.”
Remy: “I’m a beauty buff so for me, it was meeting Nadine Baggot, beauty editor of Hello Magazine, at the Chinawhite Pamper Party in 2008. We swapped cards and stayed in touch. Nadine attended a beauty day at Selfridges and I got a photo of the two of us together which is on my desk next to my other favourite picture (of Zac Efron).”
Miki: “Dressing up as a giant rabbit for the first ever Chinawhite Magic Show. Forget Issa and Temperley, this was the best outfit I’ve ever worn! I think Laura Topham very much enjoyed being my rabbit companion too. The dinner parties in the Mao Rooms were brilliant as well...and I loved it every time we had a celebrity secretly stashed in the corner when no one else in the club had a clue..like Prince and Janet Jackson."
Emily: “I went to Chinawhite after my 6th form Prom, I was 18! I snogged a Russian boy called Vlad the Slav.”
John: “My best memory of Chinawhite is a simple one, having an endless supply of amazing cocktails delivered to my table - oh and eating delicious Mimi’s Bakery cupcakes that the team devoured in a secret little boudoir-esque nook at Charlotte Ward's book launch for ‘Why Am I Always The One Before The One'"
Katie: “Dressing up as the Green Absinth Fairy for Chinawhite’s Halloween magic show. Meeting Caprice and introducing her to Sebor absinth sour cocktails was fun. I’m not sure how keen she really was on them but she was very polite and drank one anyway!”
Cleo: “Tough choice - Right my unofficial top moment had to be when Tom Curtis knocked out a light in Chinawhite whilst getting too into air guitar at a Rick Parfitt Jnr gig. We were all jumping on the tables and chairs in a scene reminiscent of an early Black Sabbath concert, with lychee cocktails rather than beer! As for the official top moment, it had to be Halloween in Chinawhite 2006 - it was such an amazing atmosphere - one that could only happen in an establishment where the crowd knew how to let their hair (and rabbit ears) down and just have a bloody good time. Oh and from the PR buzz point of view - Keira Knightley having her 21st in the Grill Room was a pretty good one too!”

Santa's Little Helper

Product placing a Christmas stocking stuffed with adult toys courtesy of Kinky Play isn’t the easiest of tasks – especially with only a month to do it in. Passion, persuasion and bribery were put in to overdrive as account manager Laura Lou rallied her team to approach every single shopping and online retail contact we knew. Many told us there was no room at the inn, but we finally cracked it with politicsandthecity, talkSport, the Daily Sport, Scarlet Magazine, Refresh Lite and Metro. Our joyful clients at Kinky Play told us that on the day that the Metro piece ran, their site picked up 65,000 hits with over 100 sales and rising...

A Bit of Good Clean Fun....

Golden Goose PR has been lucky enough to generate a vast amount of coverage for our clients this year, but perhaps our favourite ever piece is from Kate Walsh’s Prufrock, just before Glastonbury 08. We had the bright idea to approach Comet to suggest that we bring the brand to the festival. Our plan was to create a mobile ‘My Beautiful Launderette’ – with only very subtle Comet branding, natch. Oh, and we’d have SWAT teams (err…ourselves) racing out to rescue mud-soaked victims and clean them up all nice and pretty. We'd use low temperature washes, environmentally friendly detergents and educate the great unwashed in the ways of eco-friendly, good clean living. OK, so it was slightly an excuse to get the whole team knee deep in mud whilst we pranced around to Neil Diamond and The Ting Tings. But anyway, Comet loved it. And so did Hugh Robertson and the lovely people at RPM, the ultimate experiential marketing agency that specialises in marrying brands with festivals. We had some inspired meetings, plans were hatched – but Michael Eavis probably quite rightly put his foot down. It’s all ever so slightly about the dirt, after all. We still went to Glastonbury, but on a jolly, rather than a mission. But we did happen to mention our little idea to the Sunday Times… anyway…it’s a great plan that couldn’t happen this year..but that’s not to say there’s not another way…festival planners for 2009 take note…

Supporting Samsung with the inaugural Pink Ribbon Party at the Park Lane Hotel

At any one time, the Golden Goose PR office is buzzing with charity activity. Over the years we’ve supported Breast Cancer Haven, MediCinema and global ceasefire initiative, Peace One Day. Then in November, we were approached by GSP and Samsung to publicise the first ever Samsung Pink Ribbon Party, a gala dinner for 17 global breast cancer charities including Susan G. Komen For The Cure and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

The party took place at the Park Lane Hilton. GSP rolled out the pink carpet and GGPR drummed up a sparkling guest list. Our star studded cast for the evening included Jerry Hall, Jasmine Guinness, Jade Parfitt, Camilla Rutherford and many more remarkable women – all of whom took the time to chat to digital entertainment megasite, t5m; whom we introduced to Samsung to record and syndicate footage all over the world. With two tables of press guests including Grazia, Woman Magazine, heat, Closer, OK!, the Mail on Sunday, the Sunday Telegraph and the Sunday Times, we had the best ever audience to witness the highlight of the evening: a presentation of a $3m cheque from Samsung to help fight breast cancer. Live performances from Beverley Knight and Kelly Rowland got everyone on the dancefloor…in fact, the lovely George Starck from Woman Magazine was singled out by Ms Rowland and invited on to the stage for a smooch and a serenade.

Working through the night with t5m, we were able to transcribe interviews and place quotes in the diary and showbiz pages of The Express, thelondonpaper, the Mail on Sunday and OK! Magazine before 8am the next day. We syndicated photos taken by the wonderful JAB Promotions over the course of the week. The style press picked up on the stunning jewellery worn by Kelly Rowland, Amanda Donohoe and Camilla Rutherford - and this of course was lent by our jewellery client, Robinson Pelham. This was a really rewarding, happy and wonderful project to have been involved with.
